What’s Cookin’ Cube? [#1]

There is nothing quite like a nice hot soup on a cold day. It just makes you feel so warm inside, as you can feel the sensation spreading throughout your body. Soup is also wonderful for those days where you are just ‘under the weather.’ Nothing beats a quick pick me up like soup, so today is soup day exclusively at Silvercublogger. There are many different kinds of soups out there in the world, ranging from a tasty matzo ball soup, to a funky black bean soup.

While everyone has their own soup preferences, today I would like to share one of my favorite soups. On the menu today we have Wonton Egg Drop soup, a very delicious soup primarily served in Chinese restaurants.
Wontons are what I would call a ‘Kreplach’ in Hebrew, meaning its a dough covered appetizer stuffed usually with meat inside. Since I keep Kosher, piggy pork is a no-no, so there is no oink-oink in any of the soups I have. The Wontons are usually either steamed or fried, and are good in soups or as a side dish.
The ‘Egg Drop’ part consists of fried egg, sliced up into pieces. It has a delicious taste to it, and can either be used as noodles or just as a taster to your soup.
Generally speaking, this is not a very difficult soup to make from scratch. If you have ever made a home-made blintz before, this should be right up your cooking ally. The time invested in making this soup is well worth it, because it is one the most delectable melt in your mouth, scrumptious soups that I personally enjoy. The trick to making this soup is to make sure you add the right spices!
Anyways, it certainly is nice to write about food every now and then, but if you are looking for a really cool blog that features interesting foods and the like, I highly suggest taking a look over at my friend’s blog “CubeFood” which she named after me. (Kidding! ^_^)
Do you have a favorite soup?
