Bye Bye, Fu Xing : (

March 22, 2008

A few months ago my favorite barber shop closed down, and it devastated me. Having been a customer there for about six years, it was frustrating to see something that was a part of you drift away.

If that was not enough, just a few days ago one of my favorite kosher restaurants closed down - Fu Xing. While the name was always a bit strange to me, it did have awesome Chinese food - and the people there were very nice.

Located nearby my home, Fu Xing became an instant hit when it opened up a few years ago.

They were doing very well, so they had to expand their restaurant:

When I went there, I usually ordered a delicious soup, such as Wonton Egg Drop or Chicken. For dessert - Deep Fried Ice Cream, which was always great. My Aunt and Uncle would always take us out here and it was great spending time with them and eating quality food.

Who would have known that all of these memories were soon to become just a faint glimmer in my life?

Apparently, one of the workers there refused to open the trunk of his car, which led to the kosher supervisor contacting kosher headquarters, with the inevitable closing of the restaurant.

Now you might ask what is the big deal if he did not open his trunk up? Maybe he was just stealing food? No. The problem was maybe the worker was bringing into the restaurant non-kosher food, and thus that is a big no-no.

While the restaurant is no longer here, their website still exists here, as of this writing. Although it is sad this place is now gone, here’s hoping the next restaurant will be better or as good as Fu Xing : )
