Hello! Welcome to another installment of the monthly flashback, where we take a look back at the month and see what went on.

April had two major game releases: Mario Kart Wii and GTA IV. Of course I purchased Mario Kart - and it is great! Look forward to a review next week.

My YouTube Channel, has been doing really well, with many of my videos already receiving thousands of hits. Making videos take awhile, but they sure are fun.

Flashback

Synopsis: This month I finally beat a really hard challenge in DDR Universe 2! I spent many months working on it, and it was really exciting completing it. I purchased one Arcade game - Lost Cities, which is kind of like Uno and Solitaire mixed into one big pile of fun.

I made some more YouTube videos as well, and I hope to have my first Trance Mix out sometime in May. There was an awesome Halo 3 Legnedary Weekend last week, in which I took part of.

Well, that’s all for this month. Currently, am I saving up for an HD-TV, so I am limiting my budget on video games over the next few months. See you in:

Welcome to another wonderful addition of Blog Banter, which involves Hawty McBloggy’s community responding to a suggested topic.

This month’s topic is:

Discuss one game you quit before completion because of a particular perceived flaw it had. What was that flaw and how could it have been fixed where you would have finished the game?

When I thought of this question, the only game that popped into my mind was Beautiful Katamari.

What was the game’s flaw?

Well, it was the first time I had ever played a Katamari game, and unfortunately the learning curve was not easy at all. For those unfamiliar with the Katamari series, it consists of rolling a ball around picking up things - and over time it grows really big to the point of picking up buildings and things of that nature.

I had a very hard time struggling with the controls, and to make matters worse each mission usually had a time limit - an idea so archaic that is laughable by today’s standards.

The problem was that after a few missions, I could never get the size of my ball to be the required size by the end of the time limit. I re-tried the mission over and over again, but alas, to no avail, my katamari skills could not for the life of me produce a ball big enough to meet the developer’s standards.

While I loved the artwork and music soundtrack to the game, the gameplay (primarily because of the annoying time limit) really halted my stay on Beautiful Katamari.

If the developers had taken out the time factor, this game would have been much more enjoyable. Perhaps I might return back to the world of Katamari someday, but as it stands, this game has been sitting on my shelf for a few months now - and that’s where it will be until I roll over to the game and try to play it again. : )

Anyone else despise time limits?

Saving Up For An HD-TV!

April 29, 2008

By the year 2009, television will be going high definition. I certainly have not yet. I am still stuck in the old Standard Definition era, and my video games suffer because of this.

Currently I have saved $105 (That’s right, I am not purchasing any more new retail games until I have an HD-TV) - I would like to get one for my birthday on July 7.

I am looking for an HD-TV that is between 26 and 32 inches - and is awesome. Anyone know any? I plan on spending about $400 on one : )

Quote of the Week [#19]

April 28, 2008

“Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.”

- Abigail Adams

A week ago, I wrote about the chance to play with Xbox Ambassadors - and this past Sunday night was when the event was held.

Since I am an Xbox Ambassador, I decided to write up a quick summary on how the night went.

At 8:30pm EST, I logged on to Xbox Live, and popped in Halo 3.

I checked my messages. I had about 20 (mainly asking please make room for me, and stuff like that)

I joined my friend Banstyle (another Xbox Ambassador) and the room was already getting full.

(We had decided to leave it open)

There was about 4 - 5 Ambassadors in our room, and about 2 other rooms were made with more Ambassadors in those.

Our room primarily played custom games. We had some issues loading the maps, and there was a bit of lag in a few of the games as well.

The people who joined the games were mostly very kind and courteous. All the people on my list were - its interesting that a few also played with The Cavegirls as well - such as ZEEK O9, and one or two others. People were coming and going non-stop.

Some of the highlights included:

playing on Blackout with a dark filter - it was awesome.

Football on Foundry with Gravity Hammers.

VIP on Avalanche (omg Hornets)

Multi Flag on Valhalla - with Scorpions and Hornets!

Hillbillies on Blackout

I was host for a game - I chose Hillbillies - it was a blast playing that game (Brute Shots, Shotguns, Team Crazy King)

For the majority of the time, SniperStealth (another Ambassador) was the host - and he selected many games. We played from 8:30pm until 11:15pm EST.

Around 10:30pm EST, another Ambassador group (CombatQueenPMS) joined our room - and we played a few more games.

And that was primarily the night. Thanks to everyone who participated, and a big thanks to Trixie and other Xbox contributors who helped set this event up! : )

When I was younger, I would go to Safeway and buy a million of these delicious popsicles, that were made by Nestle. Over the years, I have been wondering where on Earth they are now.. it seems every store I go into does not carry them.

I emailed Nestle today, in hopes of finding out where my popsicle disappeared.  I suppose I will find out an answer soon.. I need my sugar craving!

I always wondered what it would be like to be on one of my favorite reality shows - Big Brother. Can I see myself enter into a house with complete strangers, being watched 24/7?

Yes and No.

On one hand, it would be nice to have the awesome opportunity to be part of a cool experience - but on the other hand what would happen if I were to be on the show, and for bad things to happen?

I suppose I would have to measure the positives and the negatives, and eventually come to a conclusion.

Perhaps at this point in time, my own reality already has enough to deal with - maybe if I were to create a show about my life - would that draw in ratings?

Who knows?

I suppose I will think about these fantasies a little later down the road… ^_^

Song of the Week [#9]

April 24, 2008

This week’s song is:

Tri State - Above & Beyond

This song is a combination of ambient and trance, and is one of my favorite songs. It really is filled with emotion - listen to it and see for yourself : )

Over at DDR Online Community, the official DDR Konami website and forums, there is an interesting contest for those with artistic skills.

Taken from the site:

Winning entry to be featured in new Dance Dance Revolution Mobile Game due out this Fall!

The competition extends an open invitation for fans of the franchise to design their own element of the game, with the winning design coming to life in the upcoming mobile title scheduled to be released this fall.

Konami Mobile will announce the contest winner on May 1st, as chosen by the Konami Mobile production team. In addition to the grand prize winner having his/her character placed in the game, he/she will also receive a DanceDanceRevolution design trophy. The top 20 finalists will receive a limited edition DDR t-shirt and have their designs featured in a special winners gallery.

Good luck to all those who enter! : )
