The HappyCube [#6]

May 5, 2008

It is HappyCube time! Where my friend MasterKitty (Happy) and I (Cube) respond to a topic.

Last time we discussed making our own Halo 3 Map, which was tons of fun. This week’s topic is:

What is the most challenging game you have ever played, and why? Also - has there ever been a game that you would not give up on because you knew you could complete it?

The most challenging game I have ever played is:

Why?

Well it was my first time ever playing a game of this genre.

A genre that has a limited amount of bullets, frustrating controls, and a hard difficulty right from the start. Instead of the usual “guns blazing right in the door” strategy, I realized I could not do that because I would die. I had to use the shadows as much as possible, and try to find out where in the world I had to go next through the level. Not once did I use a walkthrough or FAQ for this game.

I don’t think I got very good at this game, because I died many times. But I did not give up and I kept on persisting. I spent many hours on this game, and eventually I got a little bit better - because I somehow completed the game! While many people quit this game and moved on, I persevered and challenged myself, believing that I could finish this game.

Honorable mentions go to DDR Universe 2 -

where I did not finish the entire game - but I did beat an extremely hard challenge in Challenge Mode which took me many months to complete.

The reward? A small achievement - but inside? Knowing I never gave up, and kept on trying and trying. That is the attitude I have in life - and if I don’t succeed in accomplishing my dreams, I will do my best to realize the hero in me : )
