Movie Spotlight: Changeling
November 23, 2008
Forget the reviews. Don’t even read them.
Do yourself a favor and go see this movie in theaters. I had the chance of seeing this movie Saturday night, and was unaware of what it exactly was.
The fact that it is a true story make this movie so haunting that this happened in Los Angeles during the 1920’s.
How the women were treated, how the LAPD was so corrupt.. everything in this movie makes your eyes stare at the screen, never wanting to let go..
Directed by Clint Eastwood, the main character – Jolie’s character, Christine Collins, is a single mother who upon returning home from work, finds her son missing. From there, the movie takes you on a ride you will never forget. Featuring an unforgettable and memorable performance by Jolie, and a plot so disturbing and emotionally entrenched into a blanket of sick political propaganda.
You will be crying, fighting, and screaming along with Jolie, smiling at her victories, and most of all find the hope…
Hope that our society will finally breathe “equality” – where everyone, regardless of gender, race, and religion will be treated equally.
And lastly, a message that good will always prevail…
This movie, along with The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (which I have a hard time finding words to write an article about) have my contenders for best movie of the year – possibly best movies I have seen in my lifetime.
