This Month’s Flashback: November ’10

November was a great month for games. Kinect was released, Nintendo Wii had a great assortment of games that came out such as Goldeneye 007, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, and Donkey Kong Country Returns to name a few.

The Xbox LIVE Rewards program just started too, so check that out!

Video Game Spotlight: Alan Wake

I recently got this game and it’s been a great experience so far. Alan Wake is an episodic survival action-game, the game is divided into 6 episodes with additional downloadable content.

The story is about Alan Wake (of course) who starts seeing strange things and his wife mysteriously goes missing, and most of the game is trying to find out what happened and battling the strange things he sees. The graphics and soundtrack are great and it’s definitely a good game!

Xbox LIVE Indie Game Preview Video

There’s always a lot of Indie Games available with constant new games coming in. A video was just recently released showcasing some of the better indie games available this winter. Take a look:

I’m Featured On Sony’s Playstation Facebook Page!

Months ago I entered a “PS3 Fan Story” and if one was chosen, you would get a prize. I got a message this week from someone who works at Sony and told me I’m featured on the Facebook page and that I won a prize! (when I get it I’ll post a future article). Here’s the picture:

Movie Spotlight: Abandoned

Brittany Murphy stars in Abandoned, a great thriller film that I really enjoyed. I don’t want to say anything about the film (reading any descriptions might not be a good idea either) – so just watch it without knowing anything about it.

It’s very sad that Brittany passed away (it will be a year on December 20th, still can’t believe she’s gone). She did a great job in the film and I highly recommend it.

Movie Spotlight: Resident Evil Afterlife

I like the Resident Evil movies quite a bit, and Afterlife is another great film entry of the series. Featuring a few enemies from Resident Evil 5 and tons of special effects, there’s quite a lot of action and a decent storyline to boot.

It’s kinda difficult to watch this movie if you have not seen the previous one, as it starts right where the last film left off. Overall it’s worth a watch.

Song of the Week [#123]

This week’s song is a nice vocal trance song that has some great lyrics to it. Have a listen!

Movie Spotlight: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part I

Just saw this in the theaters, and it is one of my favorite Harry Potter films in the series. Harry, Hermione, and Ron are out of Hogwarts and are now hiding from Voldemort. The special effects were great (see it in IMAX if you can), the story was very good and the film went by quite quick even though it was more than two hours long.

I’ve never read the books before and have enjoyed the series quite well. It’s recommended one at least sees the previous Harry Potter films to get a background of this one. If you’ve never read the book before, you’ll probably understand most of the film as I never read the book but got most of what was happening in the film.

Quote of the Week [#123]

“If all the year were playing holidays, to sport would be as tedious as to work.”

– William Shakespeare

Movie Spotlight: Frozen

Just released on DVD, Frozen is a great realistic thriller movie about three adults getting trapped on a ski-lift and left there with no one to help them.

Day turns into night, a snow storm comes in, the weather gets colder.. and they all are very anxious and try to figure out how to escape.. will they somehow find a way? Don’t want to spoil it, but this was a very good movie and I highly recommend it.

Video Game Spotlight: Pac Pix

Pac Pix was released about five years ago on the Nintendo DS… can you believe its been that long already? The game is pretty unique, in which you have to draw Pac Man to eat up the ghosts.

You can draw Mr. Pac different sizes. Small size, travel faster, larger size, travel slower. Lots of different ways to play the game. Its a fun little diversion, great for a rental. Give it a try!

Song of the Week [#122]

Top Gear was one of the best Super Nintendo games, and the soundtrack was quite memorable.. here’s one of the tracks:

Movie Spotlight: Due Date

I just saw this movie in theaters and it’s a mature comedy that has a few hilarious moments depending upon what kind of personality you have. Most of the audience was laughing during the entire film, but it’s not for everyone.

The movie focuses on two guys who accidentally meet up at an airport with one guy trying to get home as his baby is due to be born in a few days. Unfortunately for him, he gets stuck with the other guy who’s not too normal. There’s some really bizarre moments in this film that you’ll either love or hate.  I personally enjoyed some of the movie, particularly because of the cute dog.

Xbox LIVE Diamond Card

The Xbox LIVE Diamond card has been out for a few years, but you don’t really hear too much about it. The card used to be free back in the day, but now it’s about $7 to get one. Apparently the card gives access to good offers but most people say that the deals offered can be gotten without it anyways. The best thing about the card is the option to have your Gamertag embossed on it, which does look pretty cool. Check out the website here.

Quote of the Week [#122] – Special 2 Quotes Edition

“Never expose yourself unnecessarily to danger; a miracle may not save you…and if it does, it will be deducted from your share of luck or merit.”
– The Talmud

“I have made plenty of enemies in my lifetime, but none has ever done me as much injury as I do myself.”
– Kathryn L. Nelson

Becoming Rare – Final Fantasy CD’s

About 10 years ago, two Final Fantasy CD’s were released by Tokyopop. Final Fantasy N Generation, which contains mainly classical music pieces from older Final Fantasy games and Final Fantasy S Generation, a variety of different music pieces from Final Fantasy games mostly from FF VII through FF X.

These CD’s are very hard to come by new,  and if you do they are probably expensive. Luckily there’s a few used CD’s available on Amazon.com and ebay, but there’s not many. If you’re a Final Fantasy fan and like collecting stuff, don’t miss out on these great CD’s.
