This Month’s Flashback: March ’11

This month saw the release of the Nintendo 3DS – which I purchased on launch day and will have a big post in a week or so about everything 3DS. College has been pretty busy but I’ve got break starting April 8th. Hope everyone is doing awesome, I’ve been doing great! Here’s to April being amazing!

This Month’s Flashback: February ’11

Apologies for the short supply of articles this month, college has been very time-consuming. This coming month I hope to finally get a list of my top ten films of 2010 posted, as well as some other articles. February saw the demise of many things, one of them being my volunteer job as a Moderator for Konami’s DanceDanceRevolution website, as the website was shut down last week. Another website that shut down was MGC (My Gamercard) which you may have noticed on the right hand-side shows my Xbox Gamercard with a memorial sign. Finally, I am graduating this June, trying to decide what Master’s to get which is a huge decision. Here’s to a great month in March!

This Month’s Flashback: January ’11

It’s 2011! Wow what a quick and great month! I had college break for two weeks and started making preparations for my future preparations. I saw Les Miserables at the Broward Center, which was pretty good, and now my last semester started and I graduate in June with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

This Month’s Flashback: December ’10

This month has been extremely busy for me but things will start getting more relaxed once January 13th arrives, as I have break then until February 1st. December was a quiet month for video game releases, but 2011 will certainly have some surprises.  In terms of movies, 2010 was a pretty good year. I still have a few more movies to see from 2010, so I hope to have a top ten list of my favorite movies of 2010 by the end of February. Here’s the stats of December:

This Month’s Flashback: November ’10

November was a great month for games. Kinect was released, Nintendo Wii had a great assortment of games that came out such as Goldeneye 007, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, and Donkey Kong Country Returns to name a few.

The Xbox LIVE Rewards program just started too, so check that out!

This Month’s Flashback: September ’10

September was a pretty busy month and one major video game release: Halo Reach. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of the matchmaking, I enjoy it better than Halo 3.

This Month’s Flashback: August ’10

In August, I finished my summer college semester, tackling the toughest course, Pre-Calculus, which I received a B+ in. Today I started my fall semester and I’m taking six courses. Can’t believe I’m already a senior.

The fall season looks to be great! To gaming and college (and the new television season)!

This Month’s Flashback: June & July ’10

This summer’s been a little quiet in terms of anything interesting to write about so I thought I’d try something interesting and combine the two months to make it more compelling.

In terms of video game news, I purchased a PS3 in June and subscribed to Playstation Plus, which offers deals on games and even free stuff too. The summer’s been hectic since I’m taking a summer semester in college. Last day is August 12th though.

This Month’s Flashback: May ’10

Today is Memorial Day, which means I have a day off from college, but lots of work to do before finals start next week. The only game I purchased this month was Lips: I love the 80′s, a karaoke game for the Xbox 360. I’ve been using Netflix quite a bit, particularly the Instant Watch feature – there is quite a decent selection if you know where to look.

This Month’s Flashback: April ’10

I had a break in the beginning of April which allowed me to relax a little bit and play some games. I even wrote a nice review for Fragile Dreams, and hopefully the game will get a sequel as I enjoyed it emmensely. Break ended the second week of April, so back to college I went. May is going to be a super busy month for me as it’s the last month of the Spring semester. Wish me luck!

This Month’s Flashback: January ’10

January was a tough month. With the end of the Fall semester, came finals. And with finals, came preparation for a new Spring semester which starts February 1st. Gaming-wise, I had a two month break, so I was able to play quite a few games. I rented Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus, Final Fantasy X (which I hope to play more during the summer), Shadow of the Colossus, Kingdom Hearts (would like to play this more too), Gunvalkyrie, Raze’s Hell, Xyanide, Cold War, Phantasy Star Online Episode III: CARD Revolution, Dragon’s Lair 3D, Spy Fiction, Cy Girls, Under the Skin, Crimson Tears, Nightshade.

I also completed the fishing game I purchased recently (Bass Pro Shops: The Strike) and now I’m getting ready for college again…

This Month’s Flashback: December ’09

December was a quiet month in video game releases. Which was fine for me, since December was the last full month of my college semester. I rented a few games: Red Star, Kurupoto Cool Cool Stars, Sonic Unleashed, Eve of Extinction, Ju-on: The Grudge, Last Remnant, A Boy and His Blob, MySims, Pop’N Music, Black Stone: Magic & Steel, and Curse: The Eye of Isis. I’m excited to see what 2010 has in store.

November was a very busy month for me, with a really busy college schedule, but managed to try out a few games including: Little Big Planet, Animal Kingdom: Wildlife Expedition, Left 4 Dead 2, Phantasy Star Zero, and Let’s Tap. I really enjoyed Little Big Planet on the PSP, as well as Phantasy Star Zero.

November had a lot of big sales (Black Friday and Cyber Monday), and I ended up buying some items on Amazon.com (Tales of Vesperia for $14.99) and Borders (Tiesto’s In Search of Sunrise Vol. I & II CD’s, totaling $20.)

This Month’s Flashback: October ’09

This month just flew by. With all of the college work I’ve been doing, I have not had much time to play many video games, but I did manage to rent a few this month including: Groovin’ Blocks, Drawn to Life, Velvet Assassin, Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler’s Green, Rogue Trooper, Bionic Commando, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, Chaos Legion, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix, and Scribblenauts. I really enjoyed Bionic Commando, it was fun swinging around and exploring the world.

Daylight Savings Time begins on Saturday night, so make sure the clocks are set back an hour if it applies to your geographic area. Let’s get to the stats.

This Month’s Flashback: August ’09

This month I was on college break, and things went by very quickly. I had posted an article with my summer gaming resolutions, and accomplished many of my goals. I did not get to complete any of the Wii games though.

During this month, I rented The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, Cars, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Klonoa, .Hack: Infection, Spikeout Battle Street, Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler’s Green, Lost Odyssey, Open Season, BloodRayne, Sudeki, Xenosaga, Doom 3, King of Fighters XII, Persona 3: FES, and Without Warning.

Most of these games were old PS2/Xbox games that have not aged too well. I start college again tomorrow, so my gaming time will be a lot less, but I’ll still squeeze in a little bit.

This Month’s Flashback: June ’09

Hi! Welcome to another monthly flashback, where we take a look back at the month.

* * *

Flashback

Synopsis: June was the beginning of my summer college semester, and it’s been pretty intense. I did not purchase a single game this month, but I did rent quite a few.. Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Space Raiders, Tube Slider, Killer 7, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Flower, Sun, and Rain, Mario Kart DS, Patapon, Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise, Pajama Sam: Don’t Fear the Dark, and Rhythm Heaven. Would I buy any of them? No… the replay value is not too good with any of these games.

So what else happened? A lot of celebrities passed away (which was really odd, especially since many were quite young). Here’s to only good news!

Synopsis: This month was extremely busy for me because of college. I only got one game this month, Sacred 2, and barely played it. Hopefully I will have more time in June (although I start college again on June 1st). Near the end of May, I took a trip to Cincinnati, Ohio where I visited my sister and her family. It was nice to see my nephews and my niece. I also went to the zoo which I will publish an article about soon. Anyways, let’s get on to the blog stats…
